Saying it out loud makes us bad, but only thinking it means we can pretend we’re still good.
They said it was an accident.
That it was probably someone’s cigarette, or vape malfunction, or lithium battery past its life expectancy. Heck it could’ve been an old pair of glasses at the right angle at just the right time of day. And with all the clutter, and debris, the only thing surprising is how long it took to happen. The whole area is a tinderbox anyway.
Probably just luck it didn’t all go.
And in that area, it’s probably better that it’s gone.
Out with the old and in with the new.
A blessing in disguise.
It might not be what people are saying out loud, but it’s what all of us are thinking.
It’s funny what people don’t say,
. . . . . except to ourselves.
Saying it out loud makes us bad, but only thinking it means we can pretend we’re still good.
They’re the lies we live with, and whatever else they say. . . .
No one was hurt, and I don’t think you could’ve hurt that property. So all’s well that ends well. In a week it’ll be something else and no one will remember what happened here at all. All anyone will see is the new growth. “Oh look, they’re rebuilding the so and so place. I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.” I guess its how people are. or at least how we want to think of ourselves.
You know . . .positive. . . . GOOD.
People look at you funny if you say something like, “ I can’t believe what they did to make that happen.”
Oh, I know, it was an accident.
Those little things that nobody plans on, but we all know can happen, or will happen. . . but try not to think about.
If you don’t act surprised when it happens people will accuse you of being something. What that is changes all the time, and depends on who you’re talking to:
Know it all. . . downer. . . . pessimist. . . .crazy . . . The list goes on.
Then it happens again.
Somewhere else this time.
Not a chance of it being connected. Things like this just happen. No rhyme, no reason, they just happen.
If it had been in the same area it might have been suspicious but this far away, it has to be an accident too: bad wiring, a burner left on in the kitchen, someone working late and something shorted out. Just another accident. The insurance will cover it. That’s what insurance is for: to help with the accidents. There’s no way people can plan for things like this. Not now anyway. They used to, but why should anybody have to plan on things going wrong nowadays. Were much too civilized for mundane things like that.
Leave it to the professionals.
The insurance people plan for those things.
We just go about our life: working, sleeping, eating, playing. . .
It’s all normal.
It’s what people do.
Don’t spend too much time thinking about it or trying to figure things out
Don’t go solving mysteries where there are no mysteries.
You’ll drive yourself crazy like that.
They said its an accident. . . and that means it’s an accident. No mystery to solve.
Nothing more to say about it.
Then it happens again.
Same area this time. Now it’s suspicious. Now people think somethings going on. But there’s not enough evidence to prove anything.
It could still be an accident.
If it had been in the same area as the first one, people wouldn’t be thinking anything about it, except, accident.
But here, in this area.
Things like this don’t happen that often. They can . . .but they don’t.
They have names for things like this.
None I will just yet. But there are some that come to mind. But if I say it out loud, it makes it real, and it makes it bad, as long as its a thought and I don’t focus on it, it’ll pass, and this goes back to being a coincidence and an accident.
No one gets blamed for an accident.
Well, they don’t get punished for them.
usually. ..
. . . . . at least as long as no one got hurt.
When people get hurt, people start seeing dollar signs.
It’s not their fault, exactly.
It’s just how things are.
It’s what people do.
It’s normal.
Besides it’s not like the money is coming from an actual person, insurance companies pay for those things.
Insurance companies have all the money in the world.
It’s just that . . .. .
. . . . no one knows where it comes from.
. . . . . . . . If you do the numbers, they don’t add up.
But it’s normal.
Doctors have malpractice for their accidents. Pharmaceutical companies have, a whole team of lawyers to pay for their accidents. Well, usually you get paid by them to agree it was an accident and not something they knew would happen. and paid some govt agency to approve anyway.
It’s just how things are.
It’s normal.
And these are just isolated incidents. It’s not like the world has been infected with some genetically modified virus that’s airborn and 100% fatal . . . . . . . . unless you are one of the lucky ones with natural immunity.
Those poor scientists. . . . . but they had to know what they were doing wasn’t right. . .. . . or natural. . . . hubris.
Pandemics can be accidental too.
It’s happened.
People make mistakes.
Then they lie about it to cover it up.
It’s what people do.
Its normal.
Then it happens again and we know we have a situation. Especially where it happened. That area is . . .exclusive. They have their fingers in insurance, medicines, banks, govt, technology, and who knows what else.
They’re the gods of people who worship money.
Any accident that happens there has a name. and usually has someone responsible. Usually referred to as the defendant. At least in polite conversations.
The language you hear on TV isn’t spoken aloud there, at least not in public.
In private, its usually worse,
. . . . . . but as long as no one hears it, they can claim they don’t use it, or that they’re too good for something like that.
It’s shocking how many times you here them claim they’re too good for something . . . . .and how much they know about those things.
At least the people with . . . . less abundance, . . . . know better than to say something like that out loud.
You only have to act like a good person when people can see and hear you.
Everybody’s bad when they’re alone.
Everybody knows it.
They just don’t say it.
It’s how people are.
It’s normal.
Now that the accident has a bigger financial impact, things are serious.
Things will be looked into.
Questions will be answered.
Things will be given names.
People in this area will have people to blame.
People will be blamed.
Other people.
It’s the way the world works.
Its normal
Then the answers come.
The first one may have actually been an accident, but someone’s kid heard everybody saying how it was for the best.
Things will be better now.
Out with the old in with the new.
A blessing in disguise.
They decided to help too.
Same story with the next kid.
and the next.
They all just wanted to help.
They all thought they were making it a better place.
And every 6-year-old loves playing with matches.
It’s what people do.
It’s normal.
